What happened to Soundboard Prank Calls? The death of the prank calling community explained.

 "Who is your daddy ... and what does he do?"

Soundboard prank calls were huge on the internet in the early 2000s. The voices of Arnold Schwarzenegger and celebrities like Joe Pesci and Jack Nicholson were used to make hilarious phone calls. Arnold pranks (like below) were big hits on RealmOfDarkness and YouTube. Later, there even came soundboards of prank victims like the Angry Black Guy and the Irate Black Man. The phenomenon was more hype than Instagram is today.

Today, it seems like soundboard pranks calls are lost in history. Even when you come across new prank calls nowadays, they just aren't what they used to be. The soundboard "community" today seems to be full of weird and deranged people. They seem to be into something more creepy... something more... disturbing.

What exactly happened? Below is a full statement explaining the sad and tragic decline of soundboard prank calls. It is courtesy of the Soundboard Prank Calls channel on YouTube:
=================================

TL;DR - The only people left in the "community" (Discord, reddit, YouTube, etc.) are depraved and messed up weirdos. Very few "normal" people from the old days remain. Normal people listen to prank calls, maybe even make prank calls. The depraved weirdos (95% of the community now) do not. Instead, they just spam the quotes said by one particular prank victim ("Bail Bondsman") to each other. They then reply to each other with more quotes. That is what they do all day, every day, like mentally depraved and obsessed creeps. So if you go to reddit or Discord for "discussion", you will only see these quotes. They are not actually interested in prank calls, but instead they obsess about a dead prank victim, yes, a victim who passed away.
=================================

Unfortunately most of the people left in the "community" (Discord, reddit, YouTube, etc.) today are NOT normal people. It's been taken over by depraved weirdos who like to just post quotes from prank victims every day... You go to soundboard pranks discussion, and people there just do nothing except post random quotes by prank victims, and then reply to each other with more quotes. Their enthusiasm is not for prank calls, their enthusiasm is for repeatedly posting quotes by prank victims. Normal "sane" people make up only around 5% of the "coummunity" now.

The quotes are almost always from the prank victims "Bail Bondsman" and "Frank Garrett". The disturbing part comes when you find out who these victims are, and their history. Both of them were old in age, both PASSED AWAY years ago. Their deaths was big news in the prank calling scene, everyone knew about it. But now, years later, the depraved creeps in the community still spam the quotes by these two victims on a daily basis... Please read the full back-story about these 2 victims in the links further below.

In fact, this is the reason why most prank callers stopped. There were these mentally depraved people going too far with phone calls and destroying people's lives. For example, they were making hundreds of calls to one individual every day. Examples of how victims were affected by the pranks:
- A business owner went bankrupt and became homeless
- A hotel worker lost his job
- A motel worker was fired
- A very ill man in his old age who later died, received dozens of calls daily
- An elderly woman was scared out of her wits by non-stop calls going way too far

All this was the trigger for the authorities to get involved. Because scumbags were going way too far. Today, the depraved creeps that remain in the community obviously do not care about any of this. They continue to spam quotes from the mentioned victims, because for some reason they find it funny. Depraved. But the authorities getting involved was the reason almost all the prank callers stopped altogether years ago. Websites were taken down and many things were deleted.

Personally, I am glad I don't even know any of those quotes from "Bail Bondsman" and "Frank Garrett". I think I never listened to any of the calls to these 2 victims. I read the wiki pages (links below), and knew not to go down that rabbit hole. Honestly, it did not even interest me. I just think all the people who still repeatedly make fun of "Bail Bondsman" and type out his quotes every day... they are really messed up.

Sure, there are other factors for prank call decline. People don't use home phone nowadays and screen calls on their smartphone. But these are only minor factors in the decline of the scene. The TRIGGER was creeps in the community going over the line and getting authorities involved. The REASON the scene continues to die is because only the creeps remain in the current "community". Imagine if some new blood wants to get into prank calling. They will immediately get bombarded by "Bail Bondsman" quotes and quickly leave. This is how the community dwindled, and now (almost) the only people left are these creeps spamming quotes to each other every day.

Hence, soundboard calling is probably going to completely die out. No new blood in the community because they get put off by the weirdos. Maybe one thing that would help the scene is a proper forum/website - a proper place (not discord or facebook) for organized discussion and information, without any of the quote spamming by the depraved people.
